“We first put some 4,000 of a total of 8,000 tickets up for sale on his fan cafes and official foreign-language site exclusively for members of his fan clubs and overseas fans, and they were sold out in just two minutes,” the agency said. “The foreign language site even went down at one point due to heavy traffic, with fans from all over Asia accessing it.”

BANGKOK ― Korean top designer Andre Kim’s fashion debut in Bangkok, Thailand, Saturday proved that he still had the elegant touch he has been pursuing for the past 47 years.

“Andre Kim Fashion Art Fantasia,” which took place at the Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Center, was held to commemorate the friendship between the two countries and celebrate the 50th anniversary of Korea-Thailand diplomatic relations.

“It’s a great honor to be here. When I first visited Bangkok, the Kingdom of Thailand, it was in 1966, 43 years ago. I dreamed (that) in the future, I would like to present a fashion show and finally it is the day,” Andre Kim said during a press conference before the event, with the venue packed with some 100 Thai reporters and photographers.

The show started with models strutting the simple white runway dressed in pure white gowns with Kim’s signature gold and silver flowery embroideries. With small white pieces of paper floating like flower petals, the models displayed elegant gowns and even short bubbly skirts with matching tights and gold and silver high-heeled sandals.

The second stage offered flowing, light pink dresses with sparkling embroidery and lace trains. The short yet graceful pink dresses resembled ballet tutus, and the models strut Kim’s work with grace and dignity. The male models were charismatic in their simple yet stylish suits, some with colorful embroideries like the dresses, and others with pinstripes and even bow ties. With the Seoul Drama Festival 2008’s 14th ceremony ahead, Yahoo! Korea and Yahoo! Japan, together, conducted a survey on who is the best between South Korea and Japan stars, from September 4th to October 5th (about a month).

The survey has gotten a total of 27 million online votes, the most popular TV drama being “Time Between Dog and Wolf” with the total of 59.9 percent with overwhelming support from the fans.

Coming in second place was KBS 2 TV’s “Hong Gil Dong” with the total of 39 percent and coming in third place was MBC’s “Coffee Prince with the total of 1.5 percent.

In the details submitted to the court, Mentor Entertainment claimed that there was an agreement with Lee Joon Ki that he was not allowed to sign contracts with other companies within the 5 years with Mentor. Lee Joon Ki’s manager rebutted Mentor Entertainment’s claims. He said, “Mentor was the one who breached the contract in the first place. They have been delaying the pay for Lee Joon Ki since last year. We have already submitted the court application in February to renounce the contract between Lee Joon Ki and Mentor Entertainment”.

Neither side seems willing to relent at this moment. Therefore a court case is inevitable.
The Seoul Central District Court said Sunday his management agency Mentor Entertainment had filed a suit to demand the actor pay 500 million won ($500,000) in compensation for breaking a contract between the two parties.

In the petition, the agency stated, “The contract signed in May 2004 stipulates the actor belongs to Mentor Entertainment for five years and must work exclusively for the company. But the 26-year-old movie star recently established his own agency in association with his manager.”

The company claimed Lee had stashed more than one billion won.

“He must be banned from working for the self-established company until the contract with Mentor Entertainment expires,” the company added.

Lee immediately refuted the allegation.

“I underwent significant financial damage as the company was poor in dealing with tax affairs and profit distribution,” Lee claimed in a statement. “I notified the company of contract cancellation in February.”

Lee, born in 1982 in Busan, south Gyeongsang Province, is a popular actor and model. He leaped to stardom by appearing in the epic film, “The King and the Clown” in 2006.

Coming off a great past year with two back-to-back hit dramas (Iljimae and Time of Dog and Wolf), Lee Junki has been selected as the face of Hallyu — at least for the upcoming 2008 Seoul Hallyu Festival as its spokesperson and PR rep.

A rep for the festival explained, “Through projects like The King and the Clown and My Girl, Lee Junki has amassed popularity not only in Korea but in China and throughout Asia as well. With his current popularity, we plan to promote the Seoul Hallyu Festival as an up-and-coming international event.”

The Festival will take place over three days starting October 23, and will host a Hallyu star fanmeeting and photo session, as well as a fundraising concert to raise money for recent disasters in Asia. Other celebs scheduled to attend include DBSK, SG Wannabe, Super Junior, Lee Min-woo, and more.

Lee Joon-ki, the 26-year-old actor has recently finished filming for the SBS drama “Iljimae”.

He has previousle been in the movie “The King and the Clown” and dramas “My Girl” and “Time Between Dog and Wolf - Drama” where he was the character who faced tragedies. And he is well praise for his ability to portray such complex tragic emotions rather than simply expressing sadness.

Lee Joon-ki is confident in acting these kinds of emotions and says that it is his proudest skill. He said that the “Iljimae” director has praised him for this.

His definition of artist is a person who plays the contents with passionate vitality which is one of the reasons for choosing to be in “Iljimae”. Lee said that people could be attracted to this drama because it was a historical fictio that was fused with a superhero story.
